Orkney’s Three Tipples and Chapel Treasure
Embark on a captivating journey through Orkney’s unique distilleries and historical landmarks. Hear fascinating and tragic war time stories as you pass the island’s stunning Scapa Flow. Taste award-winning spirits made by local artisans as you visit three distinct distilleries, each with their own unique flavour and history.
Discover the renowned Highland Park Distillery, and find out about the processes involved in making their top quality whiskies. Following this, we’ll journey to the Deerness Gin Distillery, and enjoy an Orcadian light lunch at the Dashing Deer Kitchen and Bar. After lunch, you’ll have the opportunity to explore the distillery and its shop. Finally, we’ll visit the iconic Italian Chapel, a testament to wartime creativity, and the Collin J. Gow Rum Distillery, where groups will rotate to experience both sites.
Our return trip to Kirkwall offers a poignant moment as we pass the HMS Royal Oak memorial buoy, a reminder of Scapa Flow’s naval history. This tour seamlessly blends the rich flavors of Orkney’s spirits with the island’s fascinating heritage, providing a memorable experience for all.
