Buckingham, St James and Afternoon Tea in Kensington Palace
Experience the grandeur and magnificence of London’s royal quarter with a guided walk around its most stunning monuments and buildings followed by an authentic afternoon tea in the grounds of Kensington Palace.
Steeped in history and intrigue, allow your curiosity to be awakened as you discover St James’ Palace, Buckingham Palace and procession famed, Mall, before riding a London bus to the breathtaking Royal Albert Hall.
Get to the heart of aristocratic London, exploring the quiet corners and higgledy-piggledy streets of St James’ and discover its active, Tudor palace – favourite of the Royal Family – where the King was proclaimed monarch.
Take in the bear-skin hats of the royal guard at Buckingham Palace, the main royal residence in London, and, on Changing of the Guard mornings, witness the inspection of the Old Guard at St James Palace, an essential element of this historic ceremony.
See where the King really lives and learn the true story of the development of the Royal residences.
Follow in the steps of the monarch, up Constitution Hill, to the home and monument of Britain’s great general and war hero, the Duke of Wellington.
Behave like the British and hop onto an iconic, red, London bus for a short ride to the Royal Albert Hall, the city’s premier, historic, concert hall. Step into beautiful Kensington Gardens and hear the romantic story behind the Royal Albert Memorial.
Ready for refreshment, head for Kensington Palace and see Princess Diana’s home from the day of her marriage to her untimely death in 1997. We will view her statue in the atmospheric sunken garden and then take tea in the 300 year old Orangery that overlooks her memorial in the Palace grounds.
A 50 min walking tour of the Royal Neighbourhood including:
- Green Park
- St James’ Palace
- Clarence House
- Buckingham Palace
Followed by:
- A 10 min double-decker bus ride
- See the Royal Albert Hall and Memorial
- View the famous golden gates of the Palace
- see the Diana Statue
- Afternoon Tea is included at the Orangery
There will be one refreshment stop at the end of the experience for the Afternoon Tea, where you’ll be tasting:
- Delicate finger sandwiches, with typical English fillings such as egg mayonnaise, coronation chicken and smoked salmon.
- Freshly made scones with clotted cream and strawberry jam.
- Individually portioned patisseries, some with glazed icing and chocolate.
- A selection of Royal teas to choose from, as well as other hot beverages.
- Glasses of sparkling wine can be purchased to accompany the teas directly from the venue.
Please note: We can accommodate vegetarian, vegan and gluten free diets.
The guests will have one (non-alcoholic) drink of their choice from the menu. If you’re choosing to have tea, we offer unlimited refills.
Alcohol upgrade:
The afternoon tea does not include alcohol. An upgrade is available.
Walking information:
The total walking distance of this tour is approximately 1.9 miles. There are opportunities to sit down on benches along the way, and the route can be shortened on request.
Toilet information:
Free of charge toilets available at the Afternoon Tea venue.
There are public toilets close to the meeting point and in St James’ Park, not far from our route, with a 20p (cash) charge.

Your guide will at the entrance to the Park (Black Gates) on the right hand side between the Ritz and the South Entrance to the Station.
